During my first year of university, I had joined the Degroote Finance and Investment Council (DFIC) as a Quantitative Analyst. DFIC manages a large investment fund and continues to be one of the fastest growing and well-known clubs and teams at McMaster University
As part of the program, I worked directly with Quant Connect to create models using historical data and test algorithms using dummy data. The platform uses Python to create the model itself, and gives the user access to a wide array of functions and data to streamline the testing and development process. As part of the committee, I worked on simpler and more complex regression algorithms to measure the performance of tech brand stocks over a certain period of time. Other members worked on models based on artificial intelligence and more complex formulas that were later fine tuned to perform better than the simpler ones.
